Position: Editorial Assistant Intern

Job Description: MTS is seeking a talented, hard-working intern to serve as Editorial Assistant for the company's content team this summer. This is a full-time, paid position that reports directly to the department's two Writer/Editors. It's an excellent opportunity to gain both bylines and hands-on experience in a fast-paced interactive-publishing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
The Editorial Assistant Intern will be responsible for supporting content-creation and -production efforts for the MTS network of websites. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Write and proofread original site content, including feature articles, following the MTS Editorial Style Guide.
  • Produce MTS original content, including quizzes, using various content management tools as directed.
  • Participate in editorial scheduling and brainstorming meetings.
  • Assist in writing and proofreading marketing materials as needed, including newsletters and promotional copy.
  • Assist with departmental tasks as needed, including correspondence, trafficking, cataloging, creating meeting agendas, and other administrative tasks.
  • Assist in creating and testing user-generated content features, such as blogs and forums, as needed.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities and qualifications:
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Keen interest in consumer health and/or women's lifestyle content.
  • Basic familiarity with the Internet and online media.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office programs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic, punctual self-starter with a strong eye for detail who can work both independently and collaboratively. He or she must also be a strong writer and proofreader who is comfortable with basic Internet production and capable of juggling multiple tasks.
