Marketing Technology Solutions to Present at First Annual PMRG Institute
MTS to Discuss "'The Medical Moment of Truth': How Physician-Patient Interactions Drive Persistency"

JERSEY CITY, NJ - August 6, 2007 - Marketing Technology Solutions (MTS), an interactive marketing company operating a network of health and nutrition sites including QualityHealth.com, Nubella.com, and HealthPages.com, today announced it has been selected to present at the general session of the 1st Annual PMRG Institute. Founded in 1961, the Pharmaceutical Marketing Research Group (PMRG) is an independent, nonprofit association dedicated to advancing the principles, practice, and power of marketing research within the health-care industry.

Well suited to fit within PMRG Institute's theme of "Ideas that Thrive," MTS's presentation, "'The Medical "Moment of Truth': How Physician-Patient Interactions Drive Persistency," will analyze how enabling patients with targeted questions can enhance in-office dialogue and its corresponding outcome. This is especially true during the initial prescribing visit. It is then that the patient and doctor together decide on an effective, comprehensive, and manageable treatment plan. This critical event is called the Medical Moment of Truth™ (MMoT). Well supported, such patient-physician interaction is a primary key to the "stickiness" of a prescription brand once the patient leaves the doctor's office.

To prepare for the MMoT, more than 9 million participants to date have enrolled in MTS's Ask Your Doctor program. An email-based platform, the program is designed to educate consumers who have a doctor's appointment within 30 days about a specific condition and treatments, including information about medication options. Medical-related companies have the opportunity to market their medications and services within the Ask Your Doctor program. Program-impact results show that 50 percent of prescriptions prescribed are for brands promoted in the program, and participation drives brand preference by 90 percent.

"The Ask Your Doctor program has been enormously successful in helping patients become more informed and educated, thus improving the patient/doctor dialog," said Steve Davis, vice president of Product Management at MTS. "As a result, patients are more likely to become active participants—or partners—in their health and lifestyle decisions, leading to better overall health care."

For years, the industry has been measuring this patient-physician interaction by way of prescriber audits. Fortunately, new technology has enabled further insights by way of consumer audits integrated with longitudinal claims data. This new research indicates that 33 percent of non-adherence to a drug treatment program is directly tied to message deficiencies during the first prescribing office visit. At PMRG, MTS and Verispan will present the results of a research project that links the responses of a patient/physician interaction study among 15,000 consumers with ongoing persistency on branded medication. By way of a latent class analysis, the impact of patient demographics, stage of care, and prescription samples will be quantified as these factors influence therapeutic initiation and persistency.

MTS's presentation will take place on Monday, September 17, from 1:30 to 2:45pm, during the three-day event in Philadelphia.
